Our Opening bash. We had a wonderful day, one which we never thought we would see. Elvis cut the ribbon then Jackson did a dance for us but sadly Bowie forgot his guitar, however he looked great though! We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped us achieve our goal of getting our shop open. The support from our families and friends has been immeasurable. From baby sitting to flatpacking, financing to sweeping up, you have helped in so many ways and we hope we have made you proud. Thanks also to those who have worked for us and those who have brought work to us. You have helped shaped Wigs Up North and will continue to inspire us on to bigger things!
We had no phone for the first two weeks, running water for a month, electricity for six weeks and five months down the line we have only just been given our address! It's a good job we make wigs because we have pulled out enough hair of our own.... Our flat packing skills are now second to none (just don't slam the doors too hard) and we could tell you all about MPAN numbers and Bemco Units (but your best not asking as it makes us a little twitchy!) So where are you now?
We are the first retailers in the building and we are working with the management team to improve signage so please bear with us. Once you find us it is worth the effort! For more pictures of the building, click go to www.royalmills.co.uk
or www.royalmills.net Fact sheets containing wig advice are now available on the FAQ's page for you to print or peruse. There is also a sheet on The Make-up Space page about the current trend in mineral make-up.
We love these photos. On the left we are collecting our award for The Most Promising New Business in the North West from the British Chambers of Commerce. The certificate is strategically placed by Liz to cover the huge bump which became her daughter Maggie! On the right is Jackie and Vicky in their glad rags at the BCC Chambers Award Ceremony in London. We may not have scooped the national title but to be classed along side some fantastic companies with impressive credentials was prize enough. Since starting Wigs Up North! in June 2004, our company has grown steadily to incorporate a fantastic customer base, two company babies and a shop so please forgive us if we boast a little and say we are a bit chuffed...! We are also very excited about plans for our future so watch this space! We were asked to go on Ready Steady Cook as they wanted some contestants with unusual occupations. Vicky won and we used her winnings to take our very supportive families out for a slap up meal. On that occasion we got to finish our food but after filming the show, the cleaners whipped our food away while we were having this picture taken. I still dream of that pudding they took away.....
